I called the charity!
Yesterday, I called the charity again and I talked to the public coordinator, and she told me she'll tell me the final answer on Saturday.
But she said, she has to make a little team for us first. In fact, we can start from 'some' children for a while but we can continue with more children if they see we can do this project! :) And she said it will probably happen. Because we'll see if children like this idea.

It's found in the making of friends
And the joy of it all, when we count it all up, Is found in the making of friends.
Panta and I would like to tell all of you about our other idea! We're trying to set up a program for children in Iran. These are the children from one of the charities that the members of 'Koodake Zamine Man' visited, the poor children who have to work.
Our program is a little similar to sponsorship but the big difference is that ours isn't about money. It's about friendship. We will give all children a friend. That friend can be you!
As a friend, you can write letters to your child as often as you want (at least 2 times a year). There's also a possibility to send gifts but only once a year one gift, probably with the Iranian New Year in March, to avoid jealousy and disappointment from other children. You can send in other gifts but these should be shared with all children. The children can write letters and send drawings to their friend. Letters will be translated.
The charity counts up to 400 children between the ages of 7 and 18. Most children are young, there are only 11 between ages17 and 18 and 92 between ages 7 and 8. It's a place where these children study if they don't work, some children can only come for one hour. Panta called the charity and they were so kind and liked the idea! But they are thinking about it.
Why this idea? Because friendship is a very beautiful thing and we would love to give all these children a friend that cares for them and writes to them. We want to give them happiness and hope... something very beautiful! When they got the handmade cards, some of them were asking for English cards, while they couldn't even read English. So it meant a lot to them.
We just hope to find enough friends for the children! If you are interested in becoming a friend, you can comment or e-mail us. We need 400 people! You don't have to support the children financially, all you need to pay for are your own shipping costs. You can become a friend of more than one child if you want! Once we know whether the charity agrees we can provide you with more information.
Thanks!

The journey of a Teddy Bear
The idea is very simple: one of us buys a Teddy Bear, takes a picture of herself holding the Teddy Bear, and sends it to the next one, who also takes a picture with the Teddy Bear, and so on, and so on.
As many people as possible should have their picture taken with this bear! Give it to friends, neighbours, collegues, parents, brothers, sisters, relatives.
We will collect all photo's, print them and paste them in an album. Once the Teddy Bear has made its journey through the world, it will be given (together with the photo album) to a person who really needs cheering up. For example a terminally ill person.

Further information will follow. If you have any ideas for this project or if you want to join, feel free to leave a comment or e-mail us (ourchildren2007@gmail.com)! We really need your help! Thanks!

What is essential is invisible to the eye
Hello and welcome to 'We Are The Children', the English version of 'Koodake Zamine Man'!
'Koodake Zamine Man' is a Persian blog that was created on 29th October 2006. It has gained many kind members and a lot of warm support and help since then and that's why we decided to make an international version, so that people from all over the world can join us and help!
The members of 'Koodake Zamine Man' have worked on their first project, a cards project. These cards were for the Iranian new year which is in March. They gave almost 540 handmade cards to three charities: a charity for deaf children, a charity for children who have to work, and a charity for children with low abilities. They also gave books and toys. Many of these toys were given for FREE to the members of 'Koodake Zamine Man' who gave them to the children. They also got free play magnets! Thanks to all these kind people, hundreds of children were happy! Some of the children were asking for English cards, sent by people from Europe and the USA - while they couldn't even read English! The cards were really special for the children.
The people from the charities were so kind! The children with low abilities gave the people from 'Koodake Zamine Man' very precious handmade gifts, they came with four people and each one of them got a gift from the children. The photo below shows a handmade plate made by Sarah.

There is also a picture of the people of 'Koodake Zamine Man' together with the children with low abilities, but because of the children's privacy we're unable to post it.
Now the goal of 'Koodake Zamine Man' and 'We Are The Children' is to help in a different way than giving money. Most charities only give you one option to help - giving them money. We want to help in a special, personal way. We want to show how easily you can do something really good for another and how worthy a smile or a happy day can be.
Our blogs are inspired by The Little Prince, a classic tale of equal appeal to children and adults. As The Little Prince says:
"If you tell grown-ups, "I saw a beautiful red brick house, with geraniums at the windows and doves on the roof...," they won't be able to imagine such a house. You have to tell them, "I saw a house worth a hundred thousand francs." Then they exclaim, "What a pretty house!"
The pretty house is the one with the doves on the roof...
"But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."
The Little Prince
That's why we love The Little Prince very much, and the world of children, we want to make all these little princes (and princesses) of the world happy...
Please become a member if you want to make a difference - and a difference, even in one life, one day, even in just one moment, can change everything. Thank you so much!
